Leaving in five days… !! I’m so tired right now, I can’t even think that far ahead. But finals are finally over, just have to get everything packed and ready. Such a daunting task. I need to buy an ethernet cable for internet access in the hotels. And hopefully I’ve downloaded a reliable proxy tool so I don’t end up running into the Great Firewall at every turn. O Motherland, why so crazy.
First stop Beijing for two days (New Years in the Northern Capital, whoo!), then on to Xian for another two. Then it’s off to Nanjing for two weeks of classes. Afterward, a day in Suzhou, and two days in Shanghai. Then the flight back stateside! Entire trip: December 28th-January 22nd.
I will miss Inauguration Day, alas. Party extra hard for me, folks.
I dug up the old entry I made while I was preparing to leave for England in July 2006. Apparently I had a lot of luggage trouble. Undoubtedly I will have a lot of luggage trouble this time around too. Although this time, my suitcase is bigger. The professor also told us to bring an extra duffel for Beijing and Xian so that we could send our bigger bags ahead to Nanjing. So this will mean less cramming, I hope. Also, I will not be packing six pounds of food.
Red Cliff part two will be out while I am in China. Perhaps I can snag a chance to see it in theaters, language barrier and lack of subtitles be damned.
